Persistence is the term we use to define things that cna be saved and loaded in your game. Specifically this is talking about saving and loading during 'runtime' when a player is playing your game, not about saving and loading during your game development.
PlatformerPro is a very powerful and robust persistence system that lets you save everything from your characters health to the position and stats f items that exist in a given scene.
Where is data stored?
Persistence data is stored using Unity's built-in PlayerPrefs system however the storage code is isolated and you can override this by adding your own persistence storage mechanism (for example if you want to store directly to binary files, or store data in a cloud service.
